Why is Business U so passionate about its institutional accreditation status with the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET)? Because workforce professionals across the country are elevating their game to align with the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act; therefore, the professional development training received by workforce professionals should align with the highest possible standards in continuing education and training (ANSI).
The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) oversees the creation, promulgation and use of thousands of norms and guidelines that directly impact businesses in nearly every sector.
“Earning IACET accreditation involves a rigorous process to meet international standards that have been fully vetted and proven; BU undertook this process because we want our training participants to get the maximum return on investment and understand how to apply the highest quality standards in developing transformational relationships with business and industry,” said BU CEO, Dr. Christine Bosworth.
Regional business engagement strategies require a coordinated effort among workforce, education and economic development organizations. In a recent Business U learning event, the trending topic of reengineering regional business engagement was addressed. According to Business U’s B2B Engage Community of Practice, 87 percent of members believe that companies will partner with their organization if they can help them solve their business issues; yet 57 percent of interactions with business are compliance driven. Herein lies a key disconnect within business engagement efforts among workforce, education and economic development organizations—a lack of a coordinated effort with a regional portfolio of business solutions.
The ANSI standards used for BU’s signature Business Engagement Boot CampTM learning event is based on in-depth research on the learning process and a framework for continuous improvement providing participants with continuing education units (CEUs).
Bosworth added, “WIOA requires workforce training providers to be accredited, so why wouldn’t workforce organizations demand the same level of quality for its own internal staff development?”
